X-change - Video for Business and the impact on the company network
| Date: | 24/05/2012 | | Time: | 09:30 | | Location: | Roularta |
If a picture is worth a thousand words, then video must be worth even more! Video has become widely adopted among businesses, which make broad and varied use of conferencing, webcams, YouTube, streaming, and more. They also use it daily as part of their Unified Communications set-up.
On the other side, however, management is beginning to worry about the impact of video on the network, and is looking for adequate techniques to keep it within reasonable boundaries.
In this BELTUG X-Change, we will present examples that highlight the business value of video, but will also focus on the network management aspects. This is a don’t-miss event if video plays a role in your company – or if you want it to.

Case Study: iTV.Desk: A customer-oriented video application (presented using this tool)
Rabobank in the Netherlands is a customer of Centric for its iTV.Desk. It uses the tool to communicate with customers in one- or two-way video over the internet. No software needs to be installed on the customer’s PC, which is a big plus. The tool allows document sharing, making it possible for bank and customer to fill out forms together, without leaving home.

Media Awareness : how to identify, Monitor and control video applications on the network
With the increased popularity of video, managers are becoming concerned about the amount of bandwidth it takes up on the network (LAN or WAN). They want to keep it within reason, and to protect the business critical applications. We have invited Cisco to present a tutorial on video-related network management rules.
Patrick Charretour, European Consulting Systems Engineer, Cisco (English)
