Danielle Jacobs, General Manager BELTUG (Dutch/French) | Part 2 | Part 2 The priorities of business ICT decision makers and feedback on BELTUG activities and positions
Danielle Jacobs, General Manager BELTUG (Dutch/French) Towards a battle for the data centre? According to recent Gartner research, about 50% of CIOs expect to be largely cloud based in infrastructure in the next 4 years. Will this become reality? For whom? What can you do in preparation? What are the pitfalls? Who will run the data centre and how will the business be changed? Should we be afraid of this new battle for the data centre or will we virtualise up to heaven? Carl Tilkin-Franssens, Independent Consultant, ICT-Mind Advies (Dutch) | last piece from speech 2 | | The debate part 1 | Part 1 Panel discussion on Net neutrality Federal Parliament is preparing a bill (PS, CD&V, NV-A) on Net neutrality. Whatever is decided on the regulatory front about Net neutrality, the consequences will be far-reaching. The scope of this bill may cover far more than the possible risk of a telco being able to block or slow down a specific application. This bill could also affect the relationship between major market players. Decisions on Net neutrality will have a major impact on: - Relations between telecoms operators and over-the-top enterprises (Microsoft, Google, Apple, Facebook, etc.)
- The business models of operators will be thoroughly modified by the transition to IP networks, including the fast switchover to flat-rate models
- The relationship between the Facebooks, Googles, etc. on the one hand and still unknown newcomers, which should get sufficient opportunities to succeed
- How users, business and private persons, will make use of the internet
| The debate part 2 | Part 2 A panel will discuss this difficult issue of Net neutrality. With: Peter Dedecker, Member of Parliament, N-VA Reinhard Laroy, Vice Director Telecom/Postal - Minister for Economy and Simplification Van Quickenborne Luc Hindryckx, Chairman of the BIPT council, BIPT-IBPT Dirk Segers, The Platform Telecom Operators & Service Providers Jean-François Willame, VP Carrier Wholesale solutions, Belgacom Bruno Schröder, Technology Officer, Microsoft Belux |
