Share the experience - did you experience fraudulent international calls in the last year?

BELTUG has been alerted by Members about problems with toll fraud or fraudulent calling to international numbers. We would like to check to what extent Belgian companies have suffered from this. Several types of fraud have already been distinguished by our BELTUG Members:

  • suspicious calls from call centres abroad (sometimes Indian) pretending to be the company's IT Service desk. These say they need your voice mail box password in order to reset it. If they gain access, they can make unauthorised calls on your company's bill.
  • hidden access to meeting bridges or unauthorised calls via (planned) conference calls
  • unauthorised employee dial-up connections to “toll bypass numbers”, which are very expensive local numbers, allowing the employee to call internationally while hiding the destination number on the company’s bill.
Can you inform us if you have noticed any attacks or abuses of these kinds in the last year?

We thank our members who gave us their point of view.
