High telephone charges when abroad

The telephone bill remains a source of concern for any international business traveller. According to Danielle Jacobs, director at BELTUG, end users have no indication at all of the costs when using their mobile phone abroad. An EU directive now enables users making calls or surfing via their laptop to ask their operator to limit their bill. Customers are warned as soon as 80% of their budget (€ 50 standard) is attained. Moreover, multinationals often must combine complex puzzles of offers, rates and services per country for their mobile communications. Mobistar launched a package with monthly fixed amounts for calling from abroad: at € 2 per day customers can surf for 2 megabyte.
