Belgacom still dominant in business market
Twelve years after the liberalisation of the Belgian telecoms sector, Belgacom remains the dominant player. Danielle Jacobs, director BELTUG, even calls this a dismal situation. Dominance shows from the following figures. A Heliview survey commissioned by Data News among 301 enterprises with more than 100 employees shows that Belgacom has 77% of the fixed-lines market; 67% of the mobile; 60% of the internet and 51% of the data market. The market share of Belgacom’s competitors on the fixed-line business market is Mobistar (8%), Telenet (4%), KPN Belgium (3%), Verizon Business Services (2%), COLT (1%) and BT (1%).
