Share the experience - worldwide uniform telephony environment


One of our members, a large industrial company, is planning to implement a worldwide uniform telephony environment that is integrated with the existing MS LCS 2005 (Live Communication Server) and with their Tandberg Video Conferencing environment.
 
 
 
In order to improve collaboration internally and externally they wish to enable unified communication functionality that is user-friendly.
 
The intention is to have a cost efficient homogeneous & centrally manageable system, that relies as much as possible on the existing infrastructure like LAN, Worldwide MPLS network ....
 
 
70 % of their telephone systems worldwide are from a single supplier. The switches are in most of the cases not interconnected. There is an operational LCS2005 environment in use and there are plans to migrate to OCS2007.
 
Questions :
- are there companies that have experience in a worldwide implementation of a voice infrastructure?
- what technology has been selected, and why?
- are there companies who plan to, or have implemented integration with Live Communications Service (LCS2005 - OCS 2007) and/or Video conferencing environments?
- what sourcing model is used for rollout and operations? "Do-it-yourself" or "complete outsourcing" or somewhere in-between?  What are the experiences?
