Picturers BELTUG City trip to Liège, September 19th.
The guided city tour with lunch in Liège was a great success with 100 participants. With lots of informal contact, members became acquainted with each other in an environment outside of professional meetings. A splendid day in September and as always a splendidly organised visit all helped to make it a perfect day for getting to know a city that is showing its true colours through hidden alleyways and some beautifully refurbished medieval buildings – mostly religious testimonies of its rich architectural heritage as the seat of church power. Indeed, this ancient capital of an independent principality has many treasures such as the brass baptismal font of the collegiate church of Saint Barthelme. The renaissance Palace of the Prince Bishop and the Curtius Palace (Mosan renaissance of the 17th century) are but a few examples of the splendour of its rich past.
This visit was certainly a pleasant discovery for most of us!
