Beltug launches Public Affairs Council
Digital is everywhere and every business is a digital business. As a reflection of the evolution, policy makers are crafting more and more cross-sectorial and horizontal legislation on digital issues. At the European level, more than 40 initiatives are being discussed. At the Belgian level, there are reforms in the privacy and cyber security fields, to name just 2. And at the regional level, institutes on Artificial Intelligence have been set-up, while companies to manage data have sprung to life.

The increasing impact of these activities and initiatives on our members has led Beltug to launch the new Public Affairs Council. Its overall aim is to give Public Affairs professionals the opportunity to discuss digital legislation, policies and topics with peers, and inform Beltug about the key issues.
The Public Affairs Council will
- Act as a sounding board giving feedback on legislation
- Flag issues that go against business users’ interests
- Bring Beltug’s positions to the attention of relevant stakeholders
- Discuss new challenges
- Exchange information and facilitate coalition-building on common positions of Beltug members
During the first meeting in November, we collected feedback on the interests of the participants, and scheduled the next meetings (in March and June 2023).
