Cloud and competition: a Beltug priority
During the panel, Danielle Jacobs highlighted Beltug’s key messages around how the unbalanced relationship between cloud providers and business users leads to:
- Unfair practices
- Unfair/untransparent licensing
- Bundling of services
- Unpredictable budgets
- Lack of clarity on future prices
- Vendor lock-in
Other key topics included concerns and challenges around tech sovereignty, and the urgent need to designate major cloud providers as gatekeepers in the EU’s Digital Markets Act.
Dialogue with policy makers
This event offered an opportunity to bring the voice of the business users to an audience of competition lawyers, EU officials and regulators. Other panel members included Alberto Bacchiega, European Commission – DG COMP; Clare E. Kelly, Google; Xavier Boutin, Berkeley Research Group (BRG); Yann Guthmann, French Competition Authority; and Natalie McNelis, PaRR.
