IT architecture strategy Fitting the jigsaw together. Invitation to the users-only.

Location:Business Faculty, Brussels

IT architecture was the number one priority amongst ICT decision-makers in our survey this year, and it’s clear why. Companies struggle with any number of possible ways to assemble their IT architecture – creating a real jigsaw puzzle!

What is the best choice, and how do you decide which way to go: cloud, on-premise or hybrid? And how solid can a 'cloud-first' strategy be?

In this users-only event, we’ll first hear about the ins, outs and realities of cloud. Then we’ll hear a real-life case about the journey to cloud industrialisation. And we’ll conclude with an interactive discussion about our members’ experiences, concerns, questions, challenges and decisions.

Please note that in order to guarantee an interactive discussion, we are keeping the number of attendees limited, so be sure to book your spot in time.

*Beltug is offering Crowdbeamer streaming at our events, so that every participant can get the most from our speakers' expertise. Just download the free app, and then during the presentation you can see the current slide on your mobile device and annotate notes!

Ann Guinée, Communication Manager, Beltug (English)

14:15 Hybrid orchestrated cloud architecture: from strategy to realisation

To make the right decisions in the journey to cloud, you first have to understand cloud architecture. We’ll learn about how to optimise the possibilities of cloud, based on insight gained with customers and cloud hyperscalers (Azure, GCP, AWS), as we hear about:

  • Cloud Architecture
  • Transformation
  • Customer case(s)

Peter Retera, CTO – Benelux & the Nordics, Atos (English)

14:45 Q&A: Your questions, your experience

15:00 Case: Cloud industrialisation for enterprises

While cloud delivers an extremely easy and flexible way to rapidly build new services, this flexibility often leads to unmanaged services. IT in any enterprise is a complex interaction of integrated services that need careful orchestration of deployment and lifecycles. Cloud industrialisation enables IT processes, policies and development pipelines to be mapped into the cloud, in order to ensure that much of the flexibility can be retained.  We’ll hear about Melexis’s journey, including its struggles and successes, as it tackled cloud industrialisation.

Koen Bosmans, End User Computing and Cloud Expert, Melexis (English)

15:30 Q&A: Your questions, your experience

15:45 Short Coffee Break

16:00 Share the experiences - Interactive discussion (users only)

Moderated by Danielle Jacobs, CEO, Beltug.

As this subject came out as the top priority of our members, we would like to give you the opportunity to discuss the questions you face, the pitfalls you struggle with, and the experiences you can share, especially with IAAS.

Here are some suggestions, but it will be up to the participants to decide which we will discuss:

  • Should you keep your critical applications on-premise or in the cloud? Why?
  • Experiences exiting the cloud
  • How to secure your architecture
  • Regulatory issues
  • Dominance of certain large cloud providers and lock-in
  • Metrics
  • Contractual issues
  • How to orchestrate different cloud services
  • Pricing models for Azure and AWS
  • Barriers to cloud adoption
  • Etc

These are only a few of the aspects we can address: please email us your additional topics so we can prepare this session in an optimal way.
