The impact of 5G: insight from use cases, a real-life case and the 5G Innovation Challenge. N-sight.

Location:virtual meeting

5G has long been an enigma. We know it is coming, but how do we grasp and prepare for the opportunities of a technology that hasn’t yet been realised?

Nonetheless, there is information and insight we can share and learn from. In this N-sight, we’ll take a close look at some use cases from our experts. Then we’ll hear VRT’s outlook for the 5G future in the broadcast industry. Finally, we'll share a quick update on the ideas that came out of the 5G Innovation Challenge held in early March – a dynamic and valuable afternoon of ideation and brainstorming.

This event will be held as a virtual meeting. The link will be provided in the Confirmation email.

13:30 Introduction

Ann Guinée, Communication Manager, Beltug (English)

13:40 How will 5G accelerate Industry 4.0?

It’s clear that Industry 4.0 is gaining importance in Belgium. So have a look at how existing LPWAN technologies already facilitate Industry 4.0, and how 5G will increase the acceleration. Guided by a few concrete examples, you will gain insights in the possible 5G setups and the challenges you might face during an implementation.

Jeroen Machielsen, Value Proposition Manager B2B, Orange (English)

14:10 Our connected world, today and in the 5G future

There is a general agreement that 5G will be the networking layer of the future and the base of the 'connected' world. But in fact, we are already more connected today than we may believe. For example, consider our connected cities, Tour de France solutions, even animal conservation programs. During this session, you will hear about some use cases of companies enabled today with mobile solutions, in the domains of Industry 4.0, transportation, connected vehicles, planes and even devices. Plus, you'll get a clearer perception of the evolution towards 5G.

Filip De Maeyer, Business Development Manager Enterprise Mobility, NTT (English)

14:40 5G in the broadcast industry

Find out what 5G has to offer in the broadcast market for VRT, including both the distribution and contribution of (live) audio and video during events and news-gathering. In this context, distribution is the delivery of content between partners, other broadcasters and the audience via direct lines or CDNs, while contribution is the acquisition of content from the field to VRT. You’ll discover VRT’s current workflow, and how the broadcaster thinks 5G will change its way of work to be more future-proof, cost efficient and reliable. Plus, you’ll hear how it will provide new opportunities to do things which were not possible before.

Jonathan De Bolster, System Engineer, VRT (English)

15:10 Beltug Innovation Challenge

Take a brief walk through the ideas, questions and concerns the Beltug members gathered during the recent Beltug 5G Innovation Challenge.
