BELTUG concerned about unclear ASTRID obligations

On 1 May 2014, the Royal Decree on interior ASTRID network availability comes into force. The decree stipulates the obligations for ASTRID coverage- i.e. the radio network for the emergency services - when constructing or renovating a building.

However, BELTUG finds the obligations laid out in the decree both unclear and unreasonable. Too many questions remain unanswered.

BELTUG is lobbying for more clarity. We have made an extensive analysis of the various documents involved, such as contracts to be signed with ASTRID, etc. Next, we will discuss our questions with the Federal Public Service of Interior Affairs.

In addition, we will set up a meeting with BELTUG members who are interested in the topic. Please let us know if you wish to be invited.

We have also been communicating our issues about the decree in the Press. In an Opinion article in Datanews, BELTUG Managing Director Danielle Jacobs expressed concern about the new legislation. (Available in French or Dutch.) And you can read BELTUG’s comments in Trends, as well (Dutch only).
