After several of our members came to us, asking about letters they had received from the BSA / The Software Alliance, BELTUG took action. We organised a Consultation and found that quite a few members had received these letters, strongly urging them to register to ensure "compliance" with software licensing.
We looked into the letter and asked for advice from legal and other experts; we uncovered several issues in the letters that we are significantly concerned about.
We have drafted an Open Letter to the BSA, highlighting our concerns and suggesting concrete ways the BSA could address them. We hope that this will open a positive dialogue with the BSA that will help to resolve the issues. You can read the letter here.
