Strengthening the European approach on cyber security

Date:15/03/2018

EuroCIO has drafted a letter to European Commission Vice President Andrus Ansip, with comments on the European cyber security strategy that was presented on 19 September 2017 by the Commission.

EuroCIO raises some key concerns that impact business users of digital technology, particularly in the area of certification schemes. Many of our members, like those of EuroCIO, require a high level of protection of their information assets, and it is critical that any global certification scheme should not allow levels of security to be lowered in any country or market.

Beltug is a member of EuroCIO, and we support EuroCIO’s message regarding strengthening the European approach on cyber security, and on enforcing global standards and harmonised best practices. At the same time, governance needs to be clarified, and market fragmentation reduced.

We have forwarded the letter to Miguel De Bruycker, Managing Director of the Centre for Cyber security Belgium, Belgian Minister Alexandre De Croo, and Walter Coenraets, Director of FCCU.
