Danielle Jacobs, General Manager of Beltug and Chairman of INTUG, has been invited to participate in the ITU’s Global Symposium for Regulators (GSR), which will take place in Geneva from 9-12 July 2018.
The theme for the 2018 event is “New Regulatory Frontiers”. Thematic events include “Global Dialogue on Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT) and Cybersecurity – Policy and regulatory challenges and opportunities”.
Discussions will focus on how the digital transformation that is sweeping across sectors is impacting all aspects of our daily lives as consumers, businesses and citizens, and extending regulatory frontiers beyond traditional telecommunications/ICT regulation.
Danielle will participate as a panellist in the session “The Human in the middle: How to protect personal data in a smart data driven economy?” This session will discuss practical regulatory measures to enhance trust, including by addressing the issues of secured and trusted data flows, data ownership and control, the role of social media, data security and privacy, and how horizontal regulation can empower consumers. Danielle will bring the voice of the business user to these discussions, on behalf of Beltug and INTUG, and their members.
