“Innovation for smarter digital development” is the theme of the ITU 2018 Telecom World, being held 10-13 September in Durban, South Africa. This event for governments, corporations and tech SMEs aims to help accelerate innovation to improve lives faster.
Danielle Jacobs, General Manager of Beltug and Chairman of INTUG, has been invited to take part in the panel on “Strengthening collaboration in cybersecurity”, on 13 September. As regulation and data protection initiatives prove increasingly unable to keep pace with the exponential growth of data analytics and the digital economy, the potential for abuse and cybercrime continues to rise.
Building trust at consumer, corporate and national levels, implementing fit-for-purpose cybersecurity measures, and wide-scale capacity building are essential to realise the full benefits of the data value chain. The panel will discuss the main security risks associated with new AI or IoT solutions, smart cities or digital financial services, the importance of trust to the success of smart development, and cooperation between the various stakeholders in different geographies on security threats and breaches, and more.
