Beltug SaaS contract checklist for your (non-IT) colleagues

A good contract makes good friends – an important notion to keep in mind when concluding contracts for Software-as-a-Service (SaaS). But more and more, cloud software is being purchased outside the IT department. Hitting all the important points can thus be difficult, especially for colleagues who aren’t IT experts.

Four of Beltug’s Task Forces (vendor management, security, public tendering and privacy) have brought their expertise together to create a checklist to help guide you on your way. The Beltug Checklist for SaaS and mindmap cover four aspects of the SaaS project lifecycle:

  1. Preparation for the service acquisition: reflecting on what you would like to achieve
  2. Implementation of the service: introducing the new capability to your target population
  3. Operations: focusing on dimensions that may not be familiar to users with less IT expertise.
  4. Exit strategy: including from the start what you need to avoid vendor lock-in.
