The event began with an overview of the key priorities of Belgian CIOs and ICT decision-makers. Alongside Artificial Intelligence, other topics high on the list include strategy and governance, digital sovereignty, cyber security, supplier management and compliance, among others. The priorities revealed in the Compass guide our Working Plan and shape the agenda for the year ahead.

Mieke De Ketelaere — Keynote Speaker, Author, IT Person of the Year 2024, and Adjunct Professor at Vlerick Business School — then gave an insightful update on AI, tracing its evolution from the 1950s into the future. She highlighted seven key learnings for organisations, from ‘Put our planet at the same level as your AI profit’ to ‘Don’t just add more data points. Invest in hybrid AI systems containing reasoning.’
To close, Danielle Jacobs, CEO of Beltug, shared an update on our achievements and initiatives, all aimed at creating greater value for our members. We then rounded off the evening with a tasty walking dinner and lively informal discussions among peers.
