No miracle solutions, but you can address dependency on cloud providers. Takeaways for the Beltug X-change of 24 November 2021
Many organisations have transferred part or all of their IT to the cloud. Drivers for doing so include less upfront investment, faster deployment, enhanced scalability, increased device and location independence, and perceived cost reductions. At the same time, sales models have changed towards SaaS-only, specialisation has led to fewer options, and greater competition is decreasing interest in experimentation. The result is a feeling of growing dependency on cloud providers.

To address the dependency, various things can be done, but there are no miracle cures or ‘one-size-fits-all’ solutions. Our speakers each started with the broader picture: the business strategy, the governance strategy, or Porter’s 5 Forces model. And they each highlighted that today’s cloud providers are strong economic players, and that, in various instances, you will have to accept their terms and conditions.
