Becoming truly data-driven requires more than implementing technology; you need an architecture and a data strategy that support seamless data flows, and strong governance that enables collaboration across diverse teams. By aligning people, processes, and technology, companies can turn raw data into actionable insights and sustainable value. However, putting this into practice can be complex. From ensuring data quality and readiness for AI, to integrating governance frameworks and enabling cross-functional collaboration, organisations face multiple challenges in operationalising data across the organisation.

In this session, we dove into the challenges from the perspectives of three real-world examples. Umicore started us off with insight into aligning data readiness, operating models and compliance to make AI create sustainable value. Next, UCB shared its real-life story and lessons learned from setting up an end-to-end Data Quality Service. Then MPET took us through the journey from raising awareness of data value to the implementation of a good data strategy.
