Peer Practices: Whistleblower Policy

Whistleblowing is the act of reporting suspected misconduct, unethical behaviour or violations of laws, regulations or organisational policies. It plays a vital role in promoting transparency, accountability and ethical behaviour within organisations, helping them identify and address issues before they escalate. Whistleblowing policies provide clear guidelines and secure channels for reporting concerns, ensuring individuals feel supported and protected when raising issues in good faith, without fear of retaliation.

The Whistleblower channel

Find inspiration in the whistleblower policy imec is sharing with other members. This policy highlights imec’s commitment to respecting relevant laws and regulations when conducting activities. It encourages individuals to report any conduct that possibly violates a law or regulation, the Ethics Code, the Business Code, or imec’s policies and procedures.

While it does not replace people’s access to regular reporting lines and internal reporting channels, it provides an alternative channel and guaranteed any concerns reported will be treated confidentially and, if desired, anonymously, and that there will be no retaliation for raising concerns in good faith.

The Whistleblower Policy explains who may use the Whistleblower channel, and for what purposes, and specifies what is covered. It provides information on all the different ways an individual can report concerning conduct. And it lays out how reports will be handled by imec. Finally, it clarifies what actions the company takes to ensure there is no retaliation against good-faith reports.
