eSIM and GSMA-proposed standard: INTUG publishes position statement

The flexibility to use mobile devices and connect to different mobile networks has long been a priority for business users, and for Beltug and INTUG.

Both organisations strongly support global efforts to introduce “soft” SIM cards or “eSIM” that enable switching from one operator to another, without physical intervention. For this reason, Beltug and INTUG have closely followed the efforts of the GSMA to develop an eSIM standard. However, we have strong concerns regarding certain clauses in the proposed eSIM standards relating to switching.

INTUG has therefore developed and published a Position statement on an eSIM and GSMA-proposed standard. The statement has also been sent to GSMA. We will keep our member informed on this issue.
